HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Base officials announced the Combined Federal Campaign will return to Hanscom Air Force Base and other New England area federal agencies beginning Sept. 23 and run through Jan. 12, 2020.
Established in 1961, the CFC promotes and supports philanthropy through an employee-focused and cost-effective program that provides federal employees the opportunity to improve quality of life for all. It is also the only authorized solicitation of employees in the federal workplace.
“The CFC is a great opportunity for those that want to donate to charities but may not know the avenues to do so,” said Justin Mitiguy, 66th Communication Squadron communications planner and CFC installation representative for Hanscom.
Charities supported through the CFC range from start-up community groups to large, internationally known charities. It’s estimated that more than 20,000 organizations are participating in the 2019 campaign.
“They have charities for helping animals, for families and mental health,” said Capt. Chulete Wallace-Keane, 66th Medical Squadron Family Advocacy officer and CFC installation representative. “I look through to see if any agencies represent something I can relate to, and I always find something.”
The 2019 campaign donation process will take a more digital approach, and community members are encouraged to contact their unit’s CFC representative for more information. Base officials hope to reach a goal of raising $110,000 by campaign closeout.
“If you want to donate, look through the catalogue and see what stands out to you,” said Wallace-Keane. “Even if you give a dollar, it will help.”
