Local ceremonies to pay tribute to veterans

HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Team Hanscom personnel will participate in local Veterans Day observances honoring military service members Nov. 7 and 11.

Hanscom’s annual Veterans Tribute ceremony will be held Nov. 7 at 8 a.m. at the Hanscom Conference Center. The 66th Air Base Group commander will host the event honoring retired and honorably discharged veterans. All members of Team Hanscom are invited to attend the ceremony. In addition to the Hanscom ceremony, the following are a sampling of events taking place around the local area Nov. 11.

Bedford Veterans Day Ceremony
Bedford’s annual Veterans Day ceremony will be held at 12 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park on Great Road in Bedford. The event will include remarks from local and state officials, a wreath-laying ceremony honoring veterans and music by the Bedford High School Marching Band. In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Bedford High School auditorium. For additional information, contact Paul Purchia at 781-275-2464.

Lexington Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony
The town of Lexington’s annual Veterans Day events will begin with a parade, which will step off from the Lexington Police Station promptly at 10 a.m. The parade will proceed west on Massachusetts Avenue, circle the Battle Green and disperse at Cary Hall. The parade will be followed by a formal ceremony at Cary Hall at 11 a.m. In case of inclement weather, the parade will be canceled and the ceremony will be held at Cary Hall at 11 a.m. as planned.
