HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Eleven Airmen graduated from Airman Leadership School during a ceremony at the Minuteman Commons here Feb. 27.

The five-week course of professional military education prepares junior enlisted members to become first-line supervisors

The guest speaker, Senior Master Sgt. John Barboni, 6th Space Warning Squadron first sergeant, Cape Cod Air Force Station, Mass., touched on four main topics: trust in their Airmen, their leadership, the Air Force and in themselves.

”As you sit here about to become the Air Force’s newest supervisors, the Air Force places its ultimate trust in you,” he said. “The trust to care for, guide and mentor its greatest resource, our youngest Airmen.”

During the ceremony, school officials announced the names of those Airmen who received awards.

The school’s top award, the John L. Levitow Award, went to Senior Airman Grant Killian, Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, and Networks. The award recognizes the student who achieves the highest overall standing from a combination of academic scores, performance evaluation and leadership qualities. It's the highest honor awarded to an enlisted professional military education student.

The Academic Achievement Award was presented to Staff Sgt. Nicholas Borden, 66th Logistic Readiness Squadron. This award goes to the student who achieves the highest summative scores throughout the class and displays characteristics of an effective leader and fostered teamwork within the training environment. Borden also received the Dress and Appearance Award.
