HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- In response to concerns about COVID-19 (coronavirus), and in concert with Massachusetts declaring a state of emergency, base leaders have issued some general guidelines for its workforce. Among key facets:
- Encourage maximum use of telework for employees eligible to do so. This includes allowing telework-eligible employees caring for children because their school or daycare facility has closed to work from home (with conditions).
- Limit all non-mission-essential travel.
- Reduce large gatherings and meetings, holding them virtually whenever possible.
None of these actions or any others being implemented or contemplated result from a direct or specific threat at the base. Rather they are simple precautionary measures designed to contribute to state- and nationwide efforts to minimize the spread of COVID-19. More specific information regarding these and other safeguards are being sent to supervisors and employees directly.
In addition, base leaders continue to encourage everyone to take proper personal measures to protect their health, that of their coworkers and families and of the community at large.
