HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Air Force Life Cycle Management Center officials recently announced the names of several center-level award winners via an email to members of the LCMC workforce.

The recipients, including five from Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts, will go on to compete at the Air Force Materiel Command-level.

“The award winners’ selection speaks volumes to their high-level qualities and outstanding contributions they’ve made to their organization and our United States Air Force,” wrote Col. Brady Hauboldt, AFLCMC vice commander, in an email to members of the center.

General Larry O. Spencer Innovation Award

The Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence and Networks Enterprise IT as a Service, or EITaaS, team is contending for the General Larry O. Spencer Innovation Award.

The award recognizes an individual or team whose actions demonstrate innovation in cost and manpower savings to improve efficiency, operational readiness and replication of the innovation across the Air Force enterprise.

Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) Black Belt Practitioner Award

Sam Doucette, Hanscom’s installation process manager, received recognition for his ongoing effort to improve products, services or processes.

Doucette and other CPI practitioners employ common business tools and techniques to reduce waste, cut costs, streamline processes and improve customer service.

“My focus is almost entirely on finding and providing training opportunities from private industry, mentoring Green Belt candidates, and building community with the New England regional CPI2 practitioners,” he said.

American Legion Spirit of Service Award

Airman 1st Class Brett Estes, 66th Medical Squadron public health technician, is an AFMC nominee for the American Legion Spirit of Service Award.

This award honors an enlisted member E-5 and below from each branch of the armed forces. Winners will receive their award during the legion’s national convention.

"Growing up in an all military family, I quickly realized what sacrifice looked like and just how much the time you give to others matters,” said Estes. “I feel it is my duty to help others in any way I can.”

Air Force Honor Guard Awards

Tech. Sgt. Meldion Shehu, 66th Force Support Squadron ceremonial guardsman, is a nominee for the Air Force Honor Guard Member of the Year award. Tech. Sgt. Daniel Fox, 66th Force Support Squadron noncommissioned officer in charge of the Patriot Honor Guard, is a nominee for the Air Force Honor Guard Program Manager of the Year award.

These awards recognize base-level Honor Guard members who have made the most significant contribution in the area of military honors and ceremonies. Enlisted base-level Honor Guard members, to include Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve members, are eligible for these awards.
