HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The First Sergeants Council here will host a 31-day run, walk challenge for all those who live or work on the installation.

“Staying active during the COVID-19 pandemic is incredibly important to your overall physical and mental health,” said Master Sgt. Anthony Poulin, organizer for the event. “Many are working from home and not getting out as much as they might have before the pandemic took hold.”

The challenge takes place throughout May for anyone associated with the installation.

“Each time you go out for a run or walk at home or at work, log the distance on any running app and send in a weekly screen shot with your total miles,” said Poulin.

Organizers ask participants to include their full name, age of any children participating, along with a screen shot, to anthony.poulin@us.af.mil for tracking.

First sergeants will present awards for the top male, top female and top child under the age of 18.

“Whether you walk or run, we encourage people to get involved,” Poulin said. “The important thing right now is getting people to think about their health and getting their mind off of what is going on.”
