HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Thirteen technical sergeants were ceremoniously inducted into the senior noncommissioned officer corps during Hanscom’s first-ever virtual SNCO Induction Ceremony here Sept. 21.

The ceremony was in conjunction with a four-day Senior NCO Professional Enhancement Seminar that prepared the future master sergeants for increased supervisory, leadership and managerial responsibility that comes with their transition to the senior NCO tier.

Hanscom’s Command Chief Master Sgt. William Hebb spoke to the inductees about their role in the force as senior NCOs.

“When you cross the bridge into this next tier, your whole life changes,” said Hebb. “You must take full responsibility of ensuring our Airmen are taken care of and the mission is complete; and failure is not an option.”

Col. Katrina Stephens, installation commander, challenged the honorees to reflect on the senior NCO charge.

“As you go on in your career, ask yourself often if you are exceeding those expectations, because ‘on par’ is no longer acceptable,” she said. “Be the fuel that accelerates the change we need in the Air Force.”
