HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Families living on base with children enrolled at Bedford High School have until Oct. 30 to complete and submit the 2020-2021 Federal Impact Aid Survey for federally-connected students.

The Federal Impact Aid Program assists local school districts that have a significant number of students living on military installations or other federal properties.

“Education must continue to be a top priority for our community,” said Col. Katrina Stephens, installation commander. “It’s in the best interest of our children and our schools to ensure families who receive a survey fill them out and return them by the deadline.”

In lieu of certain taxes for federal families, Impact Aid replaces a portion of what other individuals would pay in taxes to fund public education.

Officials say that COVID-19 will not affect how the surveys impact the school’s budget.

“Submitting the surveys will only benefit our students and our partnership with Bedford Public Schools,” said Laurel Wironen, Hanscom’s school liaison officer.

Any information gathered via the survey is confidential and only available to school and federal officials. Additional Information about the form can be found at the Bedford Public School website.

Completed forms should be submitted to BPS by Oct. 30. Families can also email their forms to Laurel.Wironen@us.af.mil.
