HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The STARBASE Academy here will host a summer camp program “Doing the Impossible with Patterns,” Aug. 23 to 27.

STARBASE is a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Enrichment Academy founded by the Department of Defense. This five-day, in-person curriculum will teach campers about patterns in programming, architecture, design and biology through games and projects.

“This program is a really fun and creative way to get children’s minds attuned to finding patterns, which is really applicable to what they learn in school when it comes to mathematics and formulas,” said Dr. Peter Holden, Hanscom’s STARBASE director.

The program is open to Hanscom-affiliated children ages 11 to 13 and will be the first in-person program hosted by STARBASE this year.

“A really special benefit to being in-person rather than virtual, is that the campers will get to work together and interact directly with each other and the material,” Holden said.
