HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Base officials announced the installation will celebrate morale and wingmanship during a combat dining out Sept. 17 at the Patriot Golf Course from 1 to 5 p.m.

The traditional military dinner is open to all individuals with base access 18 years or older and will feature informal uniforms and activities.

“This traditional event celebrates the history of our Air Force,” said Master Sgt. Henrie Young, co-coordinator for the event. “There are lots of traditions and protocols to follow, but it’s ultimately a morale event.”

Coordinators said the uniform of the day can be any combination of uniform items, so long as it is not offensive, derogatory or obscene.

“Typically, we see old uniforms cut up and reused in creative ways,” said Young. “I recommend using older items because they will get dirty.”

Capt. Scott Coberly, co-coordinator for the event, said the event is a great opportunity to come together and a chance to build camaraderie with teammates.

“It’s not every day you get the chance to attend an event like this,” said Coberly. “Everyone should experience it at least once in their career.”
