WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio -- Improve the way you feel and function by participating in the Civilian Health Promotion Services “Move More” Challenge throughout September and October.
Being physically active is essential to prevent and reduce risks of many diseases and improve physical and mental health. Participants will receive a free CHPS performance training t-shirt at the initial check-in with CHPS staff.
Who is Eligible for “Move More:”
Federal civilian employees and active duty members with a staffed CHPS program, including at Hanscom Air Force Base, Massachusetts, are eligible to participate.
“Movement and physical activity are more important now than ever,” said Britni Bredeweg, Hanscom’s CHPS coordinator. “Health is your foundation, and once you develop a good strong foundation then you can build from it. This challenge could be a reset or a fresh start for some, and even a way to challenge and push others.”
How to participate:
- Enroll online at USAFwellness.com from Aug. 16 to Sept. 12. Federal civilians need an up-to-date health risk assessment to participate.
- Print your “Move More” confirmation email to turn in at the initial check-in with CHPS staff at Building 1540 between Aug. 30 and Sept. 10 to finalize enrollment and pick-up your free CHPS performance training t-shirt.
- Perform and log physical activity minutes and/or pedometer steps on the activity logs at USAFwellness.com from Sept. 13 to Oct. 24.
a. One minute of physical activity or 100 steps = 1 MOVE
- Attend the CHPS education class, “Get Ready, Get Set, MOVE!” offered from Sept. 13 to Oct. 24 – both in-person and virtual sessions will be available.
- Attend a final check-out with CHPS from Oct. 27 to Nov. 5 to receive your completion award.
- To be eligible for the completion award, you will need to:
- Attend a CHPS check-in event or contact your local CHPS team to ensure you are enrolled in the challenge
- Complete and log at least 1,000 Moves
- Attend “Get Ready, Get Set, MOVE!” class from CHPS staff
Hanscom personnel can also participate in a new class called “On Your Mark, Get Set, MOVE!,” which will be offered throughout September on the following dates:
- Sept. 13 at 12 p.m. at the Chapel Gazebo
- Sept. 14 at 12 p.m. via Adobe Connect (https://fbch.acms.com/hanscom_chps/)
- Sept. 15 at 12 p.m. at the Chapel Gazebo
- Sept. 16 at 12 p.m. at the Fitness Center conference room
- Sept. 30 at 12 p.m. at the Hanscom Conference Center, Lincoln Room
Take the first step and get more active with the Move More challenge. Participants that complete all Move More challenge requirements will receive a free CHPS drawstring sports pack. Contact your physician before beginning any physical activity program to be sure it is safe.
