HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Air Force Civil Engineer Center officials recently completed an annual site visit here to assess the effectiveness of the installation’s privatized military family housing.

AFCEC officials conduct site visits annually to evaluate privatized housing communities. Visits focus on joint problem-solving, process improvement and goal alignment of all parties.

“We are very fortunate to have a strong and successful working relationship with all members of the military family housing team at Hanscom,” said LauraLee Morris, Hanscom resident advocate. “We are all committed to providing quality homes to the residents of Hanscom Air Force Base.”

The visiting team reviews these five areas: work order process, change of occupancy maintenance process, property management, maintenance, and Military Housing Office management.

During the weeklong visit, officials interviewed corporate directors from Hunt Military Communities, the property manager at Hanscom AFB, maintenance team, the installation commander, resident advocate, Military Housing Office personnel and residents.

While official scores are not yet available, assessors believe the Hunt team is meeting expectations.

Meara Goss, contract support with Jones Lang LaSalle, who participated in the site visit as a contractor, emphasized the outreach of Hunt’s maintenance team.

“The maintenance director, Marcos Nogueira, puts in a great deal of effort connecting with residents and communicating updates regarding maintenance,” she said.

The visiting officials also discussed the teamwork and dedication that takes place at Hanscom AFB to cultivate a quality housing experience for residents.

“We highlight and stress teamwork between all stakeholders to foster flexibility and responsiveness, especially the ability to respond to the varying needs of our military families, because our common goal is to provide military families access to safe, quality, affordable, well-maintained housing communities where they choose to live,” said Kimberlei Calhoun, housing privatized project manager for AFCEC.

The site visit has been held annually at Hanscom AFB since 2010, most recently in January 2021.

“It was clear that the Hunt team has worked to improve the overall visual appeal of the community through improved landscaping, repaved roads and new roofs throughout Hunt Military Housing,” said Goss.

The final report will take up to 60 days to generate from the last date of the visit, which was Jan. 27. Officials will provide a numeric score with the report.
