HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The Airman and Family Readiness Center here is now accepting applications for the 2022 Spouse Employment Training Program.

The 66th Force Support Squadron’s A&FRC, in partnership with the Air Force Aid Society, offers the program to spouses of active duty Airmen to develop or enhance their professional careers.

“This is a great opportunity for spouses who are looking for a portable career, or skills they can take with them as they follow their service member from installation to installation,” said Julie Frederick, Hanscom’s community readiness specialist and AFAS program manager.

This year’s program offers a choice between two, six-week online courses at Middlesex Community College for medical coding and medical transcription.

“We’re excited to offer these courses as the topics are very timely, and there’s a real need for personnel in the medical field,” said Frederick. “Both courses would result in marketable skills no matter where the spouses go.”

Frederick said they are accepting 10 spouses for the current program. The program would cover the cost of the online course as well as any required books.

There are no prerequisites or certifications needed to apply.

Personnel should contact 66.fss.fsfr.cmb@us.af.mil for an application and submit before Feb. 17.

“Anything we can do to assist our service members and their spouses is just an added benefit, and we’re happy to be a part of that process,” said Frederick. “We want to set our spouse community up for success.”
