HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – Officials from the Integrated Resiliency Cell here are seeking volunteers to assist in accomplishing the installation’s Community Action Plan Goal 1: foster cohesion, connectedness and belonging

The CAP, a list of initiatives set forth by the installation commander, addresses key focus areas to improve the overall health and wellness of the base community.

“This goal recognizes that where we work needs to be a happy, healthy, and vibrant environment of connection,” said Carolyn McCafferty, Hanscom’s Resiliency Program manager. “People need to know they’re surrounded by others who have their backs, and they’re able to come together in a unity of effort to accomplish the mission.”

McCafferty, along with other members of the Hanscom Helping Organizations, or H2O, are collecting information from base organizations through surveys to determine each unit’s current state of cohesion, connectedness and belonging.

Tech. Sgt. Lesli Pape, a Hanscom Equal Opportunity specialist, is currently taking the lead as the CAP 1 Goal focus group’s efforts, and said she is looking for additional volunteers to further analyze the data.

“We’re looking for motivated members who are interested in looking through the survey responses, and developing insight, tools and strategies for commanders to implement in their units,” she said.

The opportunity is open to civilians, enlisted and officers across Hanscom.

McCafferty said the intent of the initiative is to get members to reflect on how they personally foster cohesion, connectedness and belonging in their workplaces.

“Our leaders help create the climate of the workplace, but we need every member to come together to make this goal a success,” she said.

Additional CAP goals include developing mentorship and feedback opportunities, as well as work-life integration.
