HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. – The 66th Force Support Squadron will host HansCOMICON Comic and Game Expo April 1 from noon to 8 p.m. at the Minuteman Commons here.
The first-of-its-kind on base event will be similar to the international comic book convention Comic-Con and will include 20 different activities for attendees of all ages.
“It’s going to be a fun, creative and engaging spring program that really taps into a bunch of different corners, whether it’s video games or comic book collecting,” said Andrew Lane, the event’s organizer. “It will be great for anyone looking to have a good time.”
While the FSS program will have a primary focus on comic books and comic book culture, according to organizers, HansCOMICON will also offer food, games and more.
“We’ll have an outdoor ‘Jedi Master’ obstacle course, an instructor-led painting class, anime, cosplay, a Japanese language and learning workshop, typing contest and much more,” said Lane.
Being held that afternoon, FSS will host First Friday starting at 4 p.m. in the Tavern that will include a family-friendly improv comedy show at 6:30 p.m. While the event is family-friendly, it is intended for those ages 15 and older.
Anyone with base access can attend any or all events.
