July 21 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Redhook Brewery. The event is free for children, active duty, National Guard, Reserves and veterans. All others will be $15 per adult. Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans Orientation Join guest speaker John Moon from Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans in the MIT Lincoln Labs auditorium July 23 at 11 a.m. to noon for a presentation on the organization and how combat veterans are using them. Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans is a non-profit organization that was established in 1976 to provide canine assistance for people who are deaf or have a disability. Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans offers a wide spectrum of assistance dog services, including: canines for combat veterans; dogs for children with a physical disability; hearing dogs for people who are deaf or have hearing loss; service dogs for people with physical disabilities; dogs for the classroom, therapy and ministry; and dogs for children with autism. The organization is accredited by Assistance Dog International, the internationally recognized governing body that establishes industry standards and practices. The organization has trained over 1,300 assistance dog teams since 1976. Heroes Homecoming Servicemembers who have recently returned from deployments, and their family members, will be honored during Heroes Homecoming July 23 at 1 p.m. at the Hanscom Heroes Memorial Park behind the Clinic. The Attic Giveaway Day Everything must go at The Attic, Building 1217, July 25 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Free furniture, household items, toys, books and more will be free on a first come, first served basis. All items must be picked up by 3 p.m. on July 25. Massachusetts AFA and MAC golf tournament The State of Massachusetts Air Force Association and Military Affairs Council will co-sponsor a golf tournament July 25 at the Stow Acres Country Club in Stow, Mass. Cost for the event is $55 for enlisted, O-3 and GS-12 and below or $90 for all others. Entry fees cover greens fee, continental breakfast, lunch, door prizes and an opportunity to win a new car. Top Three, Chief's Group Annual Golf Tournament Hanscom's Top Three and Chief's Group will co-sponsor a best ball scramble golf tournament at the Patriot Golf Course Aug. 2, starting tee time at 8:30 a.m. This event is open to all military and civilian personnel and is $60 per person or $240 for a four person team that includes lunch at the Minuteman Commons following. SGT Mark Vecchione Rock Harbor Fishing Trip Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and one guest are invited August 24 at 11:45 a.m. on a free four hour deep sea fishing trip out of Rock Harbor, Orleans followed by a free barbecue dinner after. Veterans interested in attending can send an email to capecod4thetroops@comcast.net with name, rank, dates deployed, unit, contact information and guests name and age if under the age of 16. Families are invited to join the barbecue following the trip, organizers only ask for how many family members will attend.
