Installation commander outlines Friday furlough schedule Published June 26, 2013 HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- This week most civilian employees here will start taking mandatory one-day-per-week furloughs to help reduce budgetary shortfalls brought on by sequestration. The installation commander has designated Fridays as the observed furlough day for the vast majority of civilian employees. The furloughs are scheduled to run for 11 weeks between now and the end of the fiscal year. The following installation organizations will be closed or have reduced hours each Friday during the furlough period beginning July 12. Organizations not listed will not be impacted and will be open for normal operating hours. 66th Air Base Group Civil Engineering, except Fire Department Communications and Information Services, except Basic Network Services Information Protection Inspector General, reduced hours Judge Advocate: powers of attorney, notaries and legal assistance Plans and Programs Protocol Public Affairs 66th Force Support Squadron Fitness Center will have reduced hours from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Military Personnel Section, including ID Cards Airman and Family Readiness Center Education and Training Office; building will be open for Defense Acquisition University and night school courses. No testing will be available. Installation Personnel Readiness Civilian Personnel Office Hanscom Conference Center Manpower Office 66th Logistics Readiness Squadron All LRS services, except fire apparatus maintenance on an as needed basis 66th Medical Squadron Health and Wellness Center Medical Contracting Resource Management Office Drug Demand Reduction Program Other MDS services will have services impacted or capability reduced. The Hanscom Commissary will be closed on Tuesdays, in addition to the normal Monday closure.
