New visitor sponsorship procedures Published July 9, 2013 66th Security Forces Squadron HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- Air Force Materiel Command recently published a supplement to Air Force Instruction 31-113 which details access control procedures for Air Force Installations. The new guidance increases safety and security for all who work and live on Hanscom AFB by changing visitor sponsorship procedures for AFMC installations. Specifically, as of Aug. 5, the Visitor Center will no longer accept phone calls to sponsor visitors on to Hanscom. Sponsors who wish to have guests come onto the base will have the choice of either sending an email from a .mil or .gov account to Visitor@hanscom.af.mil or go in person to the Visitor Center with their guests' information. For added convenience, sponsors are still able to register their guests with the Visitor Center up to five days in advance. Hanscom leadership and the 66th Security Forces Squadron understand this is a major change in sponsorship procedures for Team Hanscom. To help deal with these changes, the Visitor Center hours of operation will extend coverage to seven days a week. The new hours will be Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Weekends from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Visitor Center will remain closed on federal holidays and Hanscom down days.
