The Air Force has many special duties available to Airmen and the Enlisted Aide is one that can sometimes be overlooked.

The mission statement of Enlisted Aides is to, "Assist senior leadership in the accomplishment of official military duties through a comprehensive management system to enhance mission focus."

Designated one and two-star positions, as well as all three and four-star generals are authorized an aide.

Enlisted Aides are assigned to specific general officers for the purpose of relieving them of tasks and details. While each aide may have slightly different responsibilities, most include meal preparation, organizing official social events and uniform maintenance.

Those interested in the program must be second-term Airmen, releasable from their current Air Force Specialty Code and be recommended by their unit commander and wing command chief.

"I had heard of the program but was never really sure if it was something I wanted to do," said Staff Sgt. Angeline Brown, enlisted aide at Hanscom. "Now that I am doing the job, I enjoy the challenges it brings and I'm grateful to be able to do what I love each and every day."

For more information, search for AF/DPG on the main Air Force Portal page and look for the Enlisted Aide tab.

To apply to become an Enlisted Aide, contact the Enlisted Aide Special Duty Manager, Senior Master Sgt. Emily Popkoski, at 703-695-5910 or Emily.popkoski@pentagon.af.mil.
