66th Security Forces Squadron to host annual Police Week May activities Published May 7, 2013 By Staff Sgt. Brandee Hahn 66th Security Forces Squadron HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The 66th Security Forces Squadron will host Hanscom's annual Police Week May 13 through 17. The week begins with an opening ceremony Monday, May 13, at the 66th Security Forces Squadron, Building 1725. This event starts at 9 a.m. with Senior Airman Ashley Robbins as the emcee for the morning and leading the Security Forces prayer and Lt. Col. Derrick Weyand, 66 SFS commander, as the guest speaker. Members of the community can also participate in a 5K run or walk after the opening ceremony. It will begin at Building 1725 and continue throughout Hanscom AFB. The 5K will end approximately at 11 a.m. Participants can pre-register by calling the Staff Sgt. Paul Cram at 781-225-5606. Those interested may also register on the day of the 5K. Parking for participants will be at Building 1725. A 66 SFS commander coin and 66 SFS squadron coin will be awarded to the top two male and female runners. On Tuesday, May 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Security Forces will be at the Base Exchange parking lot conducting an equipment display, along with fingerprinting cards for kids and a ride in the sky watch tower. The community is invited to come out and get hands-on with the equipment used by Security Forces members on a day-to-day basis. At 3 p.m., there will be a retreat ceremony at the POW/MIA memorial area, featuring Sgt. Steven Mullaney from the Massachusetts State Police as the guest speaker. Contact Staff Sgt. On Wednesday, May 15, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Hanscom's Military Working Dog section will showcase their abilities at the softball field by the Hanscom Primary and Middle schools. Contact Tech Sgt. The registration will begin promptly at 8 a.m. and a ceremony will follow at 8:30 a.m. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. The cost is $75 per person, which includes 18 hole green fees, a cart, and burgers and brats for lunch. This event will take place at the Patriot Golf Course located at 200 Springs Rd. Bedford, MA 01730, adjacent to the VA Hospital. Contact Staff Sgt.
