Donley to visit Hanscom; all call scheduled

HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. --  Secretary of the Air Force Michael Donley is scheduled to visit Hanscom April 25. He will be hosting an "all call" at the Hanscom Aero Club Hangar, Building 1722, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Attendance at the call is mandatory for all military personnel and for civilian personnel in a duty status during the time listed above. Exceptions to mandatory attendance for civilian personnel must be approved in advance by the employee's first-level supervisor.

The doors will open at 1:45 p.m. and base leaders are requesting that everyone be in place no later than 2:15 p.m. The secretary plans to allow ample time for questions and answers at the session.

In addition to the call, Donley will have lunch with a select group of Hanscom Airmen and civilian employees, and will receive briefings and see some technology demonstrations from each of Hanscom's two acquisition directorates.

The secretary will also spend time at MIT Lincoln Laboratory and will travel that evening to Cambridge for a dinner at which he will receive the Doolittle Award from the MIT Security Studies Program.

As secretary, Donley is responsible for the affairs of the Department of the Air Force, including the organizing, training, equipping and providing for the welfare of its more than 334,000 men and women on active duty, 176,000 members of the Air National Guard and the Air Force Reserve, 170,000 civilians, and their families. He also oversees the Air Force's annual budget of more than $110 billion.

For more than a year, Donley has also served as the Air Force Service Acquisition Executive, overseeing all Air Force acquisition programs.
