Vietnam ace to speak at leadership event Published March 6, 2013 Air Force Association, Paul Revere Chapter HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The entire Hanscom community is invited to take part in an evening of Air Force heritage. Retired Col. Chuck DeBellevue, a Vietnam ace, will be the keynote speaker for the Air Force Association Paul Revere Chapter's Heritage and Leadership event March 21 at 4:30 p.m. at the Minuteman Commons. DeBellevue was the first United States Air Force weapons systems officer to become an ace during the Vietnam War in 1972. DeBellevue became America's top "MiG Killer" when he and his pilot, Capt. John Madden, downed two MiGs, giving him six in total, the most earned during the Vietnam War. DeBellevue was born in New Orleans and grew up in Louisiana. Commissioned through ROTC in 1968, he completed undergraduate navigator training at Mather Air Force Base, Calif., in July 1969. He went on to complete pilot training in 1972. After 30 years of Air Force service, DeBellevue continues to serve the Air Force community today through his many speaking and mentoring sessions. In 2011, he was a featured speaker at AFA's Air and Space national conference. The ace will share many of his experiences and things he learned from flying north of Hanoi. There will also be an opportunity for questions and answers. The event is free, and food and refreshments will be available. For further information, contact Tech. Sgt. Donald Tilley at 781-225-2278 or Keith Taylor at 781-225-9197.
