Volunteers needed for Operation Pumpkin Published Oct. 10, 2012 By Staff Sgt. Jennifer Starr and Senior Airman Ronald Ashley 66th Security Forces Squadron HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- Halloween is a time for children to dress up as their favorite goblin and race from house to house trick-or-treating. It's also a time for parents to be especially concerned with their child's safety. With the 66th Security Forces Squadron members and volunteers patrolling housing for this year's Operation Pumpkin and families following a few safety tips, this Halloween is sure to be a fun time for all in the Hanscom community. Hanscom trick-or-treating will take place Oct. 31 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The following are some pointers for parents to help play it safe on Halloween: · Make sure older kids go out with a friend and that younger children always be accompanied by an adult. · Encourage children to trick-or-treat while it's still light out. · If it's dark, make sure the children are carrying a flashlight or glow stick. All residents and visitors to Hanscom are encouraged to especially drive slowly on this night. Any questions or concerns about Operation Pumpkin can be directed to the security forces at 781-225-5000 or by calling the Crime Stop Hotline at 781-225-6920.
