Parts of Bestic Drive, between the lower and upper segments of Schilling Circle, will be closed for road construction now until Aug. 31. The construction will be accomplished in phases and will affect the traffic flow around these areas.

Currently, upper Bestic Drive is restricted to traffic north from the upper Schilling Circle loop and MIT Lincoln Labs areas. Bestic Drive is closed to traffic traveling south from the lower Schilling Circle loop. Access for emergency vehicles will not be impacted.

For approximately six to eight weeks, beginning on or about April 2, lower Bestic Drive will be closed to through traffic. All traffic will be detoured around the construction site. Access to the Building 1305 and MIT/LL parking lots will be maintained. Approximately 30 parking spaces in the lower parking lots will be lost in this phase. Access to overflow lots west of Bestic Drive will be from Grenier Street only.

For approximately six to eight weeks beginning on or about May 14, upper Bestic Drive will be closed to through traffic. All traffic will be detoured around the construction site. Access to the Building 1305 and MIT/LL parking lots will be maintained. Approximately 20 parking spaces in the upper Building 1305 and MIT/LL parking lots will be lost in this phase. Access to overflow lots west of Bestic Drive will be from Grenier Street only.

For approximately six to eight weeks beginning on or about June 18, a portion of Schilling Circle adjacent to Building 1305 will be restricted to one lane. Access to the Building 1305 and MIT/LL parking lots will be maintained. Approximately seven handicapped parking spaces in the lower Building 1305 and MIT/LL parking lots will be relocated. Access for emergency vehicles will not be impacted and pedestrian and handicapped access will be maintained.

Construction activity will occur from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, including weekends. Access to all Building 1305 and MIT/LL parking lots will remain open via detours and handicap parking and pedestrian access will be maintained.

The facilities and users affected will experience some inconvenience during construction, however, every effort will be made to minimize disruption. It is important to note that construction activity is weather dependent and all scheduled dates are subject to change.

Pedestrians are not permitted within construction zones. Unauthorized personnel within construction areas create a hazard to themselves and construction workers. It is imperative that pedestrians avoid barricaded or cordoned off areas and follow posted signage at all times.
