The entire Hanscom community will have a free opportunity to learn about many health and fitness options available to them during the 2012 Health Expo at the Minuteman Commons March 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A variety of base agencies, as well as local businesses and organizations, will be in attendance to provide health screenings, tips, samples, demonstrations, giveaways, information and more. Healthy snacks will also be available.

Base agencies include the Airman and Family Readiness Center, Employee Assistance Program, Military and Family Life Consultant, Youth Center, Fitness and Sports Center and the Health and Wellness Center. Representatives from Outdoor Recreation, the Patriot Golf Course and the base's Swimming Pool will all be available for questions and answers.

For Department of Defense civilians in attendance, the HAWC's information booth will include free blood pressure and cholesterol screenings.

The fitness center will feature information on services offered there. For example, Robert Hupp, fencing trainer, plans to provide information on the sport of fencing and offer a demonstration. Representatives from the Marriott Hotel will attend and offer a chance for an overnight stay. USAA will have giveaways and information. Whole Foods Market will bring a healthy eating specialist and give attendees a chance to win a gift basket.

"There are many stressors that people are facing in the workplace right now," said Russell Jackson, 66th Force Support Squadron programs and project manager. "Hopefully the Health Expo will give Hanscom employees and their families a way to stay healthy or get healthy and reduce stress."
