Operation Night Hoops starts March 2 Published Feb. 29, 2012 By Staff Sgt. Irasema Reed 66th Security Forces Squadron HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- Attention teens of Hanscom: there will be free food and drinks, video games and a chance to play some hoops at the Youth Center on Friday night. All skill levels are welcome. Throughout the month of March, the 66th Security Forces Squadron invites all Hanscom teens from the ages of 13 to 18 to take part in the annual Operation Night Hoops. The operation is an opportunity for teens to have some fun playing basketball, while getting to know the law enforcement community. Officials say it provides a positive venue where members from local law enforcement agencies are able to stress anti-drug and positive alternatives messages to the teens. It also gives law enforcement members a chance to show they are ordinary people and are approachable on or off duty. For those who may not want to play basketball, activities such as foosball, air hockey, video games or chess will be available. Operation Night Hoops will kick off March 2 and will continue every Friday night from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Youth Center. The last night hoops event will take place March 30. Contact the 66th Security Forces Squadron Police Services at 781-225-5613 or the Youth Center at 781-225-6044 for further information.
