National Telework week set for March 5-9

HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- Employees serviced by the 66th Force Support Squadron Civilian Personnel section are encouraged to volunteer to participate in the second annual National Telework week March 5 through 9.

Signed into law in December 2010 by President Barack Obama, the Telework Enhancement Act requires each executive agency to establish a policy that authorizes employees to telework to the maximum extent possible without diminishing employee performance or agency operations.

Last year, the inaugural telework week helped save more than $2.7 million in commuting costs and removed more than 1,800 tons of pollutants from the air.

Telework is a great way for people to test their ability to connect equipment in their home-based office with equipment in their base worksite, said Donna Desimas, a human resource specialist with the 66th Force Support Squadron.

Telework-eligible employees must complete and sign a Department of Defense Form 2944, telework agreement form.

Employees must also complete telework training on the agency's website at www.telework.gov and register to participate at www.teleworkexchange.com.

Finally, employees must be willing to complete surveys.
