Become a member of the Col. Charles H. McGee chapter of Tuskegee Airmen Inc., local members encourage, and continue the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen.

The group is an education and community service organization dedicated to maintaining the traditions of the Tuskegee Airmen and preserving the legacy of the first generation of African-American military aviators of the Second World War.

The organization's mission is to honor the accomplishments and perpetuate the history of African-Americans who participated in air crew, ground crew and operations support training. Its mission also includes inspiring and motivating young men and women toward endeavors in aviation and aerospace careers within the local and Boston communities.

A membership drive will be held on Friday, Feb. 3, at the Hanscom Lanes bowling center from 2 to 4 p.m. All those interested are invited to come with friends and enjoy free bowling and free food. RSVP to Capt. Ishaovbua Ayeni by Feb. 1 to reserve a spot.

Members say the organization allows individuals to become part of an elite group and helps students grow to be better people. Being a TAI member and leader allows the development of positive attitudes, character and leadership skills within the community and instills pride and honor in future aviators, according to their mission.

Those interested in joining can expect to start mentoring and fostering youth on the importance of education in the current environment of changing and advancing information and technology.

Tuskegee Airmen Inc. is looking for men and women, civilian and military, officers and enlisted, of all different ethnicities and ages. For further information about the Tuskegee Airmen Inc. membership drive, contact Capt. Ishaovbua Ayeni at 781-225-2399, or email ishaovbua.ayeni@hanscom.af.mil.
