Physical therapy now offered at fitness center Published Jan. 18, 2012 By Mark Wyatt 66th Air Base Group Public Affairs HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- Base employees and their families who require physical therapy may soon be able to travel no further than the Fitness and Sports Center for therapy on orthopedic injuries or on treatment for pain that reduces an overall level of function. Sharon MacEachron, a licensed physical therapist, is scheduled to open Physical Therapy For You, or PT4U, in early February at the fitness center. She likens the opportunity to conduct physical therapy at the fitness center to that seen in a major university athletic training facility. "From post-surgery recovery programs to minor sprains, service members deserve the same consideration and opportunities to get physically ready for their respective 'game' by receiving treatment on the spot," said MacEachron. No stranger to the demands on the Hanscom workforce, MacEachron hopes to reduce the impact an appointment will have on base personnel. "When an employee leaves for an appointment, sometimes in excess of three hours, they worry that the mission is suffering," she said. "However the mission suffers more if employees are not physically able to give a 100 percent." Accredited by TRICARE, U.S. Family Health Plan and most other major insurance carriers offered for Hanscom employees, PT4U requires a referral from your provider to initiate treatment.
