The 2011 Combined Federal Campaign is ramping up and several events are planned to help raise money toward reaching the goal of $315,000. To date, more than $16,000 has been raised.

Over the next few weeks there will be several fundraising events, including raffles and money jar collections.

The first CFC fundraiser will be a Scholastic Book Fair held Nov. 3 through 11 at the 66th Medical Squadron Clinic. The book fair helps raise money for both the CFC and children's reading organizations. There will be books on display at the clinic from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the week.

The premiere CFC event will be Nov. 22. It starts with a 5K and 10K fun run at 8 a.m. at the Minuteman Commons. There is a $5 entry fee and each participant will get three raffle tickets to use toward the chili cook-off.

After the fun run, the chili cook-off will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in The Tavern. The cost for entering a pot of chili will be $20. There will be $75 gift cards presented to the winners from the following categories: best traditional, best spicy and best unique batches. All personnel on base are welcome to purchase tickets to vote for the best chili in each category.

In addition to the chili cook-off, a silent auction will take place at the commons. There will be five themed baskets up for auction. Themed baskets include Dinner and a Movie Basket, Spa Basket, Car Wash Basket, Diaper Cake Basket and a Fitness Basket. Bidding will start at $30.

CFC wraps up Nov. 23. Volunteers will have a money jar at the Hanscom Exchange from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. to collect any coins or cash patrons may wish to donate to finish the campaign.

"There are lots of ways to donate and get involved with CFC," said 1st Lt. Jessica Zencey, installation campaign manager. "Even if you decide not to fill out a pledge card, you can contribute by participating in these fundraising events."

The CFC, which marks its 50th anniversary this year, offers the opportunity to donate to more than 2,000 local and international charities that represent a variety of issues and concerns. Employees have the option of making a one-time contribution or a payroll deduction.

The one-time contribution can be accomplished by filling out a pledge card. The payroll deduction method can be completed by filling out a pledge card or going online at www.easternmasscfc.org and clicking on "Pledge Now."
