Running clinics and certification programs offered at Hanscom

Base personnel are invited to join seven-time World Adventure Racing champion and three-time world record holder Ian Adamson and the Newton Natural Running Form coaching certification team for a two-day event that includes Natural Running Form clinics, a symposium and coaching certification program.

A symposium will take place Nov. 4 from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the base theater. Admission is free.

There will be two coaching certification programs. The first will be held Nov. 3 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Holzman Room of the Hanscom Conference Center. The second certification program will be held Nov. 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the base theater. Admission is free, but the programs will be open only to those who have pre-registered at the Fitness and Sports Center.

Two Natural Form Running clinics will take place Nov. 3 and 4 from 10 to 11 a.m. Admission is free. Those interested may pre-register at the fitness center, but walk-ins will also be welcome. Check with the fitness center prior to the clinic for the location of this event.

The author of "Guide to Adventure Racing," Mr. Adamson is an endurance athlete, event director, published author and motivational speaker based in Boulder, Colo. As an adventure athlete, Mr. Adamson is dedicated to educating and motivating people in their quest to master skills in their professional, personal, athletic and family lives.

He is a three time and current world record holder for endurance kayaking and has competed internationally in adventure racing, canoeing, kayaking, orienteering and sailing.

Mr. Adamson graduated from Sydney University with an honors degree in mechanical engineering and from Chapman University, Calif., with a master's in sports medicine.

All of these events are held free to Hanscom personnel, National Guard members, local and state police and firefighters.
