Minuteman Thrift Shop moves to new location, grand opening date set Published Oct. 13, 2011 By Kelsey Simons Minuteman Thrift Shop manager HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- It is official. The Minuteman Thrift Shop has finally moved to its new location in Building 1515 on the corner of Grenier and Barksdale streets. After months of planning, hard work and support from the base, the thrift shop will soon be opening its door for business. The store will hold a grand opening celebration Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. There will be many deals for customers, such as all clothing for $2 per item (unless otherwise marked) and 50 percent off all holiday merchandise. Customers can expect new inventory, a more comfortable and pleasant shopping experience and an opportunity to get great deals while supporting the Hanscom community, according HSC. Those who support the Minuteman Thrift Shop help support their peers and the community. Last year the thrift shop contributed more than $19,000 for base activities, scholarships and local and national charities. The thrift shop is staffed entirely by volunteers, but in order to continue the highest level of service to community, they are always in need of new individuals to help. Anyone interested in volunteering may contact Kelsey Simons, thrift shop manager, at thriftshop@hanscomsc.org. After the grand opening, the Minuteman Thrift Shop will resume its traditional operating hours of every Tuesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., as well as the first and third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
