Transition presentation to be held Oct. 26

An annual lecture on transition, "Marketing Yourself for a Second Career," will be held Oct. 26 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. in the O'Neill Auditorium, Building 1612.

Sponsored by Hanscom's Airman and Family Readiness Center and presented by The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA), the session includes comprehensive information on the retirement decision itself, employer perceptions, competition, resumes, cover letters, job search, networking, career fairs, interview techniques, salary negotiation, benefits packages, the current job market and other relevant and important transition topics.

The lecture will be presented by retired Air Force Col. Dan Koslov, deputy director of transition services on MOAA's national staff.

The presentation is given annually at more than150 military installations worldwide.

According to organizers, this lecture is a great professional development opportunity and it has been praised by audiences as, "up-to-date, hard-hitting, and sharply focused- a must see."

Transition is ultimately a part of all military careers and, therefore, the lecture is perfect for those who are contemplating retirement in one to five years. Even for those who are not transitioning soon, the information is useful for mentoring and counseling subordinates who are contemplating or going through transition.

This 2 ½ hour "executive summary" is as effective as a multi-day program, said event organizers. Simply stated, it's a great fit for any commander, officer, or senior enlisted supervisor -- from the most senior, to the most junior.

Although the presentation is geared toward officers and senior enlisted, all ranks are welcome. Spouses are highly encouraged to attend as well. All attendees will receive a free copy of the lecture's companion book, also titled "Marketing Yourself for a Second Career," an in-depth, all-in-one resource for the transition process.
