Heroes Homecoming, Summer Bash dates, schedule announced; volunteers needed Published May 19, 2011 By J.C. Corcoran 66th Air Base Group Public Affairs HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- Preparations are underway as Hanscom gets ready to host the next Heroes Homecoming celebration June 24 to honor not only those who have returned from deployments over the past six months, but also their family members. As in the past, the event is held in conjunction with the base's Summer Bash celebration. The Heroes Homecoming event will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park behind the 66th Medical Squadron clinic and will be followed by the opening of Summer Bash 2011. Military and civilian personnel who have returned from deployment since December 2010 are invited to take part as an honoree. To register, send an email to james.corcoran@hanscom.af.mil and include the number of immediate family members accompanying the honoree. Immediately after the Heroes Homecoming celebration, the 66th Force Support Squadron will present a full schedule of warm-weather entertainment, activities and games planned for Summer Bash. Starting at 4 p.m., the featured entertainment includes X-Band as well as the Air Force Band of Liberty's "Afterburner" rock group. For the younger participants, the Alleppo clowns and unicycler and juggler Peter Panic are also scheduled to perform. There will be a variety of beverage and food items for sale, including burgers, sausages and hot dogs.
