Hanscom's Combined Federal Campaign came to a close on Nov. 17 and the base exceeded its goal by 28 percent, raising more than $314,000.

"It was a very successful campaign this year," said Capt. Dave Alpar, the CFC installation manager. "Unit representatives did an outstanding job and we achieved 100 percent contact."

Hanscom's goal was set at $245,000, a $1,000 increase from the previous year.

"The generosity of the Hanscom community overwhelmed me," said Captain Alpar. "Even though times are tough, people came together to give to charities and help those less fortunate."

Different organizations across the base held fundraisers to supplement individual donations. Activities included burger burns, fun runs, change for charity buckets and many other creative ways for people to give.

Captain Alpar also emphasized the campaign could not have been such a success without the help of many people.

"I want to give special recognition to Airman 1st Class Megan Compas from the 66th Comptroller Squadron," he said. "The procedures for submitting military payroll deductions changed this year and Airman Compas was proactive in learning about these changes to make sure Hanscom submitted the information correctly."

According to Niki Foor, the Air Force Materiel Command CFC representative, more than $9 million has been raised across the command and more bases are still sending in contributions.

Although Hanscom's campaign officially came to a close on Nov. 17, the national CFC does not end until Dec. 31.

"If anyone would like to donate, there is still time to do so," said Captain Alpar. "Either visit www.easternmasscfc.org or get in touch with me and I will make sure the donations are sent."

Anyone wishing to make additional donations before the Dec. 31 deadline may call Captain Alpar at 781-377-2668.
