New Portal page puts Finance at users' fingertips

HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. --  In May the Air Force launched its newly renovated virtual Finance page on the Air Force Portal. The new page, which replaces the "Money -- Finance Central" module of the Portal, gives users, including active-duty and National Guard members, reservists and civilians a single source for finance information, forms and tools.

In a July 6 press release, Jamie Morin, the assistant secretary for financial management and comptroller said, "This redesigned page greatly enhances finance 'do-it-yourself' capabilities, making the Web and online assistance your initial resource to obtain financial help."

The new site includes tools to calculate pay and allowances from basic pay to travel pay and Permanent Change of Station entitlements. It also includes an extensive bank of frequently asked questions and links to finance-related websites including myPay, LeaveWeb and the Government Travel Card.

In addition, the site features pages dedicated to the financial adjustments associated with life changing events such as marriage, the birth or adoption of a child, divorce, promotion, retirement and death. These pages list the allotments and entitlements that may be affected and provide instructions and links to update records accordingly.

For questions that cannot be resolved on virtual Finance, the site includes a look-up tool with contact information for financial services offices at Air Force bases around the world.

According to Tech. Sgt. Renieka Pepper, 66th Comptroller Squadron customer service supervisor, "A lot of people have trouble contacting Finance Customer Service because they work the swing shift, but this will be a great way for them to get the information they need without waiting on the phone. They can access it from home with their user name and password."

Virtual Finance can be accessed by logging into the Air Force Portal and selecting "Money--welcome to Virtual finance" from the "Life & Career" dropdown menu.
