ESC mourns loss of former civilian leader

A decades-long member and leader of the Hanscom and Electronic Systems Center communities, Thomas P. O'Mahony, passed away June 16.

Mr. O'Mahony culminated a 43-year federal career with the Air Force as executive director of the Electronic Systems Center at Hanscom. He enlisted as an airman in the Korean War and then entered Federal Civil Service as a mail clerk, eventually rising to the highest ranks within the Senior Executive Service.

Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush conferred high honors upon him for superior U.S. government program management accomplishments.

He also served as past Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Middlesex Community College and was a past member of the Board of Overseers of the Lahey Clinic Medical Center, in Burlington, Mass., where he resided. He and his wife, Judy, were devoted members of St. Malachy's Church in Burlington, where they served as Eucharistic Ministers to the patients at Lahey Clinic.

A funeral service was held June 21st. Interment was at Pine Haven Cemetery in Burlington.
