Col. David Orr, 66th Air Base Wing commander, signed a proclamation on March 15 declaring April 11-18 as Holocaust Days of Remembrance. The local remembrance will coincide with the national observance.

During this week the Hanscom community is invited to participate in programs, ceremonies and activities to commemorate the theme of "Stories of Freedom: What You Do Matters". Personnel will notice displays around base with information about the Holocaust during the observance.

Holocaust Days of Remembrance will culminate with a Holocaust memorial event held at the Minuteman Club on April 20 from 4 to 5 p.m. Holocaust survivor Morris Salzberg will speak and recount his experience in the Auschwitz concentration camp.

As part of the remembrance, the Holocaust Days of Remembrance committee asks for people to submit family names, stories, photos or other artifacts related to the Holocaust. Items may be sent to 2nd Lt. Daniel Fain at daniel.fain@hanscom.af.mil. Submissions will be incorporated into the memorial event.
