The final numbers are in for Hanscom's 2009 Combined Federal Campaign, which ran from Oct. 7 to Nov. 13. The amounts can leave no doubt that this year's campaign was a resounding success. Surpassing all of Hanscom's previous donation totals, the base community raised more than $344,200 for CFC charities and exceeded its goal of $244,000 by more than 41 percent.

The 554th Electronic Systems Wing exceeded its goal by the largest margin, raising approximately 238 percent of their goal with a total of nearly $19,800, said 2nd Lt. Greg Ferry, Hanscom CFC representative. The 66th Air Base Wing raised the highest total amount with $80,000, which was nearly 150 percent of the wing's goal.

"Thanks to all the CFC representatives for their hard work raising money for all the great local and national charities," Lt. Ferry said. "Thanks also to the members of the Hanscom community who once again have shown us the generosity that has become a staple of the military culture."

Col. Dave Orr, 66th Air Base Wing commander, expressed his appreciation for Hanscom personnel's efforts to make the campaign a success.

"This was a fantastic CFC showing by our base community and I applaud all those who took the opportunity to step up and donate to the charities associated with this campaign," he said. "This isn't the easiest time to be giving so generously, and I appreciate the sacrifices you make to ensure good causes can move forward and those less fortunate are taken care of. "
