Heroes’ Homecoming to include appearance by former Patriot, Hall of Famer Published Nov. 30, 2009 By Rhonda Siciliano 66th Air Base Wing Public Affairs HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. -- The next Heroes' Homecoming celebration will be held Dec. 11 to honor Hanscom personnel who have returned from deployments during the past six months as well as their family members. It will also pay tribute to those families who will have loved ones deployed over the holidays. The event will be held in the Aero Club hangar and will begin at 1 p.m.; the entire base community is welcome to attend and enjoy a free lunch that will be served immediately after the ceremony. Lunch will include pizza, subs and free drinks. The event will include a special appearance by former New England Patriot and professional football Hall of Famer John Hannah. Mr. Hannah played as a guard for the Patriots from 1973 to 1985. He was recognized as one of the premier guards in professional football, being named All-Pro 10 straight years from 1976 through 1985 and elected to nine Pro Bowls. He was inducted into the professional football Hall of Fame in 1991. Mr. Hannah will join in the homecoming festivities and will sign autographs at the conclusion of the event. In addition, the event will include participation by members of the New England Patriots Cheerleaders, other local sports celebrities and a special performance by members of the Hanscom Middle School Select Choir under the direction of Howard Worona. Local radio personality and author Michael Graham from 96.9 WTKK will serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the event. Everyone is encouraged to attend the event to show support for their family members, friends and co-workers who have been deployed over the past six months. Invitations have been mailed out to each of the deployed heroes' that will be honored at the ceremony. Joint Service personnel who live and work on Hanscom and have been deployed over the past year are welcome and encouraged to be honored during the ceremony as well.
