Enlistment ceremony
HANSCOM AIR FORCE BASE, Mass. - Col. Robert Swain, 439th Airlift Wing commander at Westover Air Reserve Base, Mass., recites the oath of enlistment to a group of Air Force Reserve initial enlistees and recruiters Oct. 5 on board the U.S.S. Constitution docked at the Navy Yard in Charlestown, Mass. The Airmen originate from across the New England and New York regions. The U.S.S. Constitution is the oldest commissioned naval vessel afloat in the world and is known as “Old Ironsides” for its successful naval battles during the Franco-American war and the War of 1812.
