It's time to brush off the lederhosen, iron out the dirndl and get ready for the annual Oktoberfest extravaganza hosted by the 66th Force Support Squadron, Oct. 2 at the Hanscom Aero Club from 4 to 9 p.m.

Featured entertainers this year are "The Vagabonds" a premier German-American band from Rhode Island who will provide authentic German and American music at its best.
Featured tunes include the Beer Barrel polka, the Happy Wanderer and the ever popular Chicken Dance among others.

According to Russell Jackson, 66th Force Support Squadron program manager, "this year's Oktoberfest is one you don't want to miss."

"We're happy to have The Vagabonds joining us for the first time and I know they'll be a great addition to our event," said Mr. Jackson. "Along with a return engagement by the Yo Yo People, Mr. Bob Caldeira our DJ , and others the event will offer something for everyone," he said.

Coming back to Hanscom are the "Yo-Yo's" a husband and wife duo that perform new and bizarre tricks with that perennial favorite toy, the Yo-Yo. John and Rebecca Higby have performed all over the world; have appeared on the David Letterman show; hold a Guinness World Record and a 2008 Yo-Yo World Champion title.

With plenty of food and snacks available for purchase as well as beverages to go along with the afternoon both parents and children are sure to have a good time at Oktoberfest 2009.

For the children, face painting, pumpkin decorating and a performance by Mr. Balloon Wizard will mean fun for everyone. In addition to the German band, the entertainment lineup will include DJ Bob Caldeira with a variety of music and games for the whole family.

"As we celebrate this Year of the Air Force Family, this event offers a great opportunity for families to enjoy an evening of fun and relaxation together with their fellow community members," Mr. Jackson said.
