Hanscom commuters have a new tool at their finger tips that can help save time, money and the environment.

The new Commuter eboard Web site is available to employees through the ESC Centernet quick links section. Once there employees can access information on such things as shuttle services, Transportation Incentive Program, Compressed Work Schedule, Telework Program, MBTA Bus Service, Bicycling to work, MassRIDES, Emergency Ride Home Program and the Hanscom RIDES program.

Hanscom RIDES is a new carpooling program available to all Hanscom employees. The site allows employees to submit information on where they would like to carpool from, along with information on their work schedules. Applications are then matched with other Hanscom employees with similar schedules and commuting locations. The program is simple to use and has already proven successful.

"I was very pleased to see the web site up and running," said Laurence Mayer, 653rd Electronic Systems Group. "I have been searching for a carpool to my area for several months. The web site was easy to use and I would definitely recommend the site as a place to search base-wide for carpool opportunities. I have already started sharing rides based on the contact I made though the site a little over a week ago."

Another Hanscom employee, Peter Hadley, Joint Worldwide Intelligence Communications System, principal engineer, was also very pleased with the site. "The web site was extremely intuitive and easy to use I would absolutely recommend the site to any Hansconian looking for a carpool," he said.

The site has been up and running for a couple of weeks and has already generated a lot of interest according to Greg Cravedi, Environmental Management Office, environmental specialist.

"The site provides one-stop shopping for Hanscom commuters looking to save time and money," Mr. Cravedi said. "We encourage all Hanscom commuters to take a minute to look through the many programs that are available. There are a number of options out there to make commutes less stressful and cheaper."

Under the Transportation Incentive Program, military and DoD civilians are eligible to receive up to $230 per month to pay for transportation costs such as bus, train, subway or van pool fees.
