Hanscom's privatized housing project has been sold to Hunt Pinnacle (HP) Communities LLC, along with privatization projects at Little Rock, Moody and Patrick Air Force Bases. The sale and assumption of operations and management of the projects was announced Nov. 4 by the Deputy Secretary of the Air Force for Installations and the new owner. The agreement consolidates the housing privatization projects at the four bases into a single deal. The sale will also allow construction to restart at all locations.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Kathleen Ferguson, is pleased the projects have restarted. She said, "Getting these projects back on track has been of utmost importance to the Air Force and will improve the quality of life for our Airmen at these four installations. Resolution of the four American Eagle projects has been a difficult task and has taken almost two years of work between all the parties involved."

Hanscom's privatized project included the acquisition by HP Communities of 725 privatized housing units, community facilities and infrastructure from American Eagle Communities. HP Communities will work to demolish some of the existing obsolete units, build new units, renovate homes and maintain "as is" some of the current housing units. The work is expected to be completed in 33 months.

"Ensuring that our Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines have the type of housing they deserve is absolutely key, in both providing our families the best possible quality of life and in creating a community environment that allows us to grow together as Team Hanscom." said Col. David Orr, 66th Air Base Wing commander. "It's been a long road and we're pleased that a sale has been accomplished and we look forward to seeing forward progress in the completion of homes for our Hanscom residents."

Colonel Orr will be joined by HP management in hosting a town hall meeting to answer resident questions on Nov. 17.

HP Communities LLC is a limited liability company owned by Hunt Development Group of El Paso, Texas and Pinnacle Development based out of Seattle, Washington. They will provide development, remodeling, operations, maintenance and property management services for those homes that are currently privatized at each of the bases. Hunt manages 14 projects at 18 Air Force installations and Pinnacle manages more than 25,000 privatized homes at 20 different military installations nationwide. Hunt and Pinnacle are teamed at 11 Air Force and Army projects.

The Air Force housing privatization program is an important tool for meeting the goal of eliminating inadequate Air Force housing and providing safe, quality and affordable homes to Airmen and their families.
