Hanscom's 2008 Combined Federal Campaign, with the theme of "Caring for Communities," is underway, running through Nov. 14.

The CFC program gives federal employees and servicemembers the opportunity to contribute to local, national and international charities. The campaign is the only period of time where solicitation of personnel in the federal workplace on behalf of charities is authorized. The CFC program takes donations on a strictly voluntary basis and all are welcome to contribute.

"Our goal this year is to raise at least $237,000 and, as always, to make 100 percent contact with every military member and government civilian assigned to Hanscom," said Capt. Katherine Stowe, Hanscom CFC representative.

"CFC is a great opportunity to effortlessly provide donations to over 2,000 local, national and international charitable organizations," said Brig. Gen. Terry Feehan, Electronic Systems Center vice commander. "Even small donations add up quickly and help tremendously."

Opportunities to donate to Hanscom's campaign will be plentiful; volunteers from each wing, group and squadron will facilitate employee giving by making the rounds to answer employee questions and distribute contribution forms, in addition to numerous fundraising activities held by individual units.

"Reaching out to help others brings so many rewards, not only to the charity that is receiving your gift, but it also has benefits for the donor and the community at large," Captain Stowe said.

President John F. Kennedy established the CFC in 1961 with the goal of improving and controlling the fundraising process within the federal government.

There will be a Halloween Party fundraiser to support the CFC Wounded Warrior Project Oct. 24 from 8 p.m. to midnight at the Minuteman Club. The event will feature live music by the Rock Daddy's, a costume contest, raffles and prizes. Tickets are $10 if purchased in advance, $12 at the door. Individuals interested in purchasing tickets or looking for more information on the Halloween Party can contact Capt. Stephen Smith at (781) 377-5582 or Capt. Max Gulezian at (781) 377-6674.
