Oktoberfest 2008 features food, fun for entire family Published Sept. 26, 2008 By J.C. Corcoran 66th Air Base Wing Public Affairs HANSCOM AFB, Mass. -- The 66th Services Squadron is once again pulling out all the stops for Oktoberfest 2008, taking place Oct. 3 from 4 to 9 p.m. in the Hanscom Tennis Bubble. The Little German Band will be on hand to add that special touch of authenticity with traditional German music as attendees dine on the German food and beverages available for purchase. A variety of vendors will be serving up everything from pretzels, cotton candy and bratwurst to root beer floats to top it all off. "It's a festive atmosphere with good food, great entertainment and lots of fun for the whole family," said Russell Jackson, 66th Services Squadron, program manager. According to Mr. Jackson, the folks in Services "have really gone all out to make this year's event the best ever." In addition to the German Band, the entertainment lineup includes Bob Calderia the DJ and a special appearance by the Boston street juggler Jim McCombe of "The Jim Show." "The Jim Show features amazing feats of skill," Mr. Jackson said. "Armed with nothing more than a trunk full of props, a quick, dry wit, and a mysterious, cat-like agility, Jim thrives on audience interaction and enjoys accepting challenges." A number of kids activities are planned, including pumpkin decorating, face painting, a bouncy castle and a variety of amusements meant to make it an afternoon of fun for the whole family. So get the family together and join your neighbors and fellow workers at Oktoberfest 2008 Oct. 3, at 4 p.m. in the Tennis Bubble located behind the Fitness and Sports Center.
