BBQ & Blues party to take place Sept. 12 Published Aug. 28, 2008 By Rhonda Siciliano 66th Air Base Wing Public Affairs HANSCOM AFB, Mass. -- The 66th Services Squadron is hosting a BBQ & Blues party on Sept. 12 from 5 to 8 p.m., outside of the Minuteman Club with free admission. The event will feature barbecue competitions, a live blues band, and plenty of food and drinks available for purchase. Competitions will be held to see who can produce the best overall barbecue ribs, the best tasting sauce, and the best barbecue booth design. "This is shaping up to be a great event," said Russell Jackson, 66th Services Squadron, program manager. The challenge is out amongst the wings to enter the competitions and see who will walk away with bragging rights. Teams have until Sept. 10 to sign up for the BBQ competitions. "If you think that you can produce the best BBQ ribs, the best sauce, or the best booth then we want you to enter the competition and prove it," Mr. Jackson said. "This event is all about promoting an esprit de corps amongst the wings, groups, squadrons and other base organizations and we're hoping that everyone will join in the competition to promote that." The event will feature music by the band Groove Authority, known for their exciting mix of rhythm and blues, dance grooves, funky rhythms, ballads, and all-out jams. "There will be plenty of great food available for purchase including the Minuteman Club's BBQ rib dinner with baked beans and coleslaw," Mr. Jackson said.
