If golf is your game or just an interest, the Patriot Golf Course, run by the 66th Services Squadron, has something for everyone.

The nine-hole regulation golf course is located about four miles off-base on the grounds of the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Bedford, Mass. The facility includes a driving range, practice putting and chipping greens, a full-service golf shop and snack bar. The course is designed for all levels of play so everyone can have a pleasant experience.

Recently John Kan was welcomed as the new manager of the Patriot Golf Course. This is Mr. Kan's first time joining a military community. For the past 20 years he has managed as well as developed golf programs for various courses throughout the country. Mr. Kan enjoys the managerial aspects of a golf course as well as teaching the sport to others. Ultimately he wants to put a smile on the face of every guest.

One of his primary goals is to ensure that the course provides a chance for patrons to relax and have fun.

"I would like to perfect what we have in place for our customers and work towards adding some enhancements to the course. Most of all, I just want to see everyone have fun."

Mr. Kan says the course is currently undergoing a series of renovations, but at the same time maintaining a classic charm. For example, the practice range now has a larger net with 85 foot tall posts. Furthermore, a general drainage plan is being made so that golf carts can be more readily used. Additional grass is going to be added to elongate the area overall and eventually plans are for the entire course to become longer and wider.
