The Hanscom community is encouraged to come out and take part in Friday's Summer Bash and Heroes Homecoming festivities at Memorial Park, located behind the Hanscom Clinic.

The event, which has been designated by Lt. Gen. Ted Bowlds, Electronic Systems Center commander, as an Alternate Duty Location, is scheduled to kick off with the Heroes' Homecoming ceremony at 3 p.m. and will honor more than 50 Airmen who have been deployed over the past six months and their families.

Various professional sports celebrities and other entertainment will take part in this year's celebration to officially welcome home Hanscom's many deployers.

Family and friends are encouraged to be in place by 2:30 p.m. for the event. Attendees to both Heroes' Homecoming and Summer Bash should bring lawn chairs or blankets as seating is limited.

As a reminder, the Child Development Center will close at 2:15 p.m., and the access road leading to the CDC will close at 1 p.m.

Summer Bash, sponsored by the 66th Services Squadron, will begin at 4 p.m. immediately following the Heroes' Homecoming event.

Summer Bash entertainment will include performances by various bands, to include blues and alternative pop based music, as well as juggler and karate demonstrations throughout the day.

There will also be a variety of free rides and attractions for the kids, and plenty of food options available for purchase for families.

The event will conclude with a fireworks display and performance by the Band of Liberty concert band with featured performing artists the American Belles.

Due to the festivities, other offices on base may close early. Individuals should call ahead to ensure facilities are open. Additionally, parking will be limited - if possible, base employees and residents are encouraged to walk to the venue.
