Hanscom will host its next Heroes' Homecoming celebration on June 27 to honor personnel who have returned from deployments over the past six months as well as their family members. The event is being held in conjunction with the base's annual Summer Bash celebration.

The Heroes' Homecoming event will begin at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park located behind the Hanscom Clinic. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside to the Aero Club hangar. Both venues have been designated by Lt. Gen. Ted Bowlds, Electronic Systems Center commander, as alternate duty locations.

Local radio talk show host Michael Graham from 96.9 WTKK will once again serve as the Master of Ceremonies for the homecoming event, which will include participation from the Boston Bruins, a player appearance from the New England Revolution soccer team, music from the Band of Liberty's Ceremonial Band and community participation from other local organizations.

"This is a great opportunity for us to officially welcome home and thank our Airmen who have been deployed over the past six months and to say thank you to their families for their sacrifices," said Col. Tom Schluckebier, 66th Air Base Wing commander. "I hope everyone will mark this date on their calendars and come out to help us welcome home our heroes' and top it off with an evening of fun and entertainment at our annual Summer Bash celebration."

The 66th Services Squadron has been busy putting together a full line up of events and activities for this year's Summer Bash which will begin immediately following the homecoming ceremony.

Summer Bash entertainment will kick off with a performance by Ernie and the Automatics, a blues band featuring two former members of the band Boston, Barry Goudreau and Sib Hashian, and Ernie Boch, Jr., CEO and president of Boch Enterprises.

Lansdowne, a Boston-based rock, alternative pop band that recently traveled throughout Southwest Asia with Armed Forces Entertainment performing for deployed U.S. military in Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Kuwait, will also perform during the Summer Bash celebration.

Lansdowne consists of Jon Ricci (vocals), Shaun Lichtenstein (guitars), Tom Sargent (bass), and Glenn Mungo (drums). According to the band's Web site "Lansdowne gets its influence from a wide range of bands like The Goo Goo Dolls, Stone Temple Pilots, and The Police, as well as singers/songwriters like Jeff Buckley and John Mayer. Lansdowne produces a sound that is full of infectious melodies, meaningful lyrics and energetic instrumentation."

This year's Summer Bash event will include free amusement rides for the children, food vendors and a full line up of entertainers. The event will conclude with a fireworks display and performance by the Band of Liberty concert band featuring the American Belles. The American Belles present an entertaining, high energy show featuring American standards and patriotic favorites, all sung in three part harmony.

"We have a great line up for everyone at this year's Summer Bash," said Russell Jackson, 66th Services Squadron, program manager. "It's an event you won't want to miss."
